What is a chakra

The word chakra comes from the Indian and means wheel. The chakras function like pumps, or valves, and regulate the flow of energy through our energy system. They serve as receiving stations, transformers and distributors of the most diverse forms of energy.

Each of the seven chakras is connected to the seven endocrine glands and also to a group of nerves called the plexus. These nerve groups are in turn connected to various organs. Thus each chakra can also be assigned to specific parts of the body.

All your senses, all your perceptions, all your states of consciousness can be divided into seven categories.

Each of these categories is associated with a specific chakra. Thus, the chakras not only represent different parts of the physical body, but also the different parts of consciousness.

Root chakra

Hormones: Adrenaline, noradrenaline, aldosterone

Sacral chakra

Spiritual qualities: Relationship to the life energy, original vitality, creative power, being a channel for life energy, letting go into the flow of life, desire, sensuality, sexuality

Blocking fears: Shame, guilt, fear of sexuality and sensuality, fear of expressing oneself emotionally and creatively

Mental qualities: Seat of universal love, devotion, healing, giving, compassion, joy of the heart, sensitivity

Blocking fearsFear of heartache, grief and hurt; fear of vulnerability; fear of opening up; fear of receiving love and being nurtured

Associated endocrine gland: Thymus gland

Hormones: Thymosin

Throat chakra

Mental qualities: seat of our uniqueness and individuality, authentic self-expression of the soul soul, ability to manifest, opening to the subtle level, access to intuition, clarity within and without

Blocking fears: Fear, expression; fear of rejection; fear of commitment; fear of confrontation of confrontation

Associated endocrine gland: Thyroid gland

HormonesThyroxine

Brow chakra

Spiritual qualities: Communication with the soul, intuition, higher mind, clairvoyance, visions, imagination, presence

Blocking fears: Fear, not knowing and understanding "why", fear of looking inwards

Associated endocrine gland: Pituitary gland (hypophysis)

Hormones: Vasopressin, Pituitrin

Crown chakra

Mental qualities: Connection of the human with the divine, unity consciousness, enlightenment, divine love

Blocking fears: Fear, fear of being left alone; fear that the universe does not care for us, fear of losing our of losing our identity and free will

Associated endocrine gland: Pineal gland (pineal gland)
